Our Projects
Upper Wellington House

Overview

Our ongoing renovation project on Upper Wellington Road in Brighton is already shaping up to be a remarkable transformation. The property has undergone extensive structural works, including two large openings and several additional changes to doors and windows, all designed to maximise space, light and flow. Externally, the new lean-to roof has been completed and major exterior works have been undertaken, laying the foundation for a home that feels both modern and timeless. The scale of the project reflects our commitment to delivering a comprehensive renovation that will redefine the way this property is lived in and enjoyed.

So far, the completed works include the new structural openings, a new herringbone patio, installation of a brand-new bespoke bathroom, and significant progress to the exterior, including the roof. With these key elements in place, we are now moving forward with the next stages — from a new kitchen and utility space to a full garage conversion into an Airbnb, a glass conservatory, and carefully considered finishing touches throughout. Once complete, this renovation will stand as a showcase of quality design, craftsmanship and functionality, making the most of the home’s potential in one of Brighton’s most sought-after areas.

Work Undertaken

This bathroom is a striking example of how thoughtful design and bespoke craftsmanship can transform a space. Finished entirely in microcement, the room has a seamless, sculptural feel, with smooth surfaces flowing into one another to create a calm, contemporary atmosphere. The centrepiece is the custom-built bath, integrated directly into the structure of the room, paired with a matching vanity unit that features warm timber cupboard doors — cleverly repurposed from the property’s original kitchen. This blend of new materials with reclaimed elements adds depth and character while keeping sustainability at the heart of the project.

We also reworked the window openings, replacing the old frames with handmade oak windows crafted by a local joinery. These add a touch of natural warmth and balance beautifully with the cool tones of the microcement. Their clean, minimal detailing enhances the natural light, making the bathroom feel open and bright.

Every fitting in this space was designed and made to order by Proper Copper Design in Hove, from the bold wall-mounted taps to the exposed shower pipework. The bespoke copperware not only grounds the room in local craftsmanship but also adds a rich, industrial edge that contrasts elegantly with the softness of the microcement. Together, these details make this bathroom truly one of a kind — a space that feels modern, functional, and deeply connected to its materials.
